March 11th, 2017. Finally, I could catch up with other foodies. Hohohoho. It’s Saturday, and we didn’t have anything to do, not even watching movies. So, we planned to visit Tangerang area. Yaaaay. First destination. Home Brew.

Enjoy your cup of coffee while relaxing in our balcony, or lounging in our cozy indoor space. Although designed for relax and comfort, Homebrew provides a private space for meetings and private event.

Located on 3rd floor of One Home Residence, Home Brew looks soooo lovely. With a concept to feel at home, they made it so spacious with private room and smoking area. Pretty little things on the display. Gorgeous sofas. Comfortable ambiance. Definitely feel at home. Enjoy my simple review, then.

Calamansi Mojito 45k

Thirst-quenching! Very fresh and strong sour taste. I wrinkled my eyes when I tried this mojito. LOL. Well, it’s really good because my hubby loved any kind of orange or lemon or lime or citrus drinks.

Calamondin (Calamansi) is an important citrofortunella, meaning that it is an intergenetic hybrid between a member of the genus Citrus (in this case probably the mandarin orange) and the kumquat, formerly considered as belonging to a separate genus Fortunella.

“This is new,” they said. The colour is tempting, right? Blue. From Curaçao. Curaçao is a liqueur flavored with the dried peel of the laraha citrus fruit, grown on the island of Curaçao. Pretty amazing. Always love blue coloured drink. Errrr.. Well, ok.. always love coloured drink hahahaha.. Tasted so good, also.

Crispy Chicken Fritter 50k

Fried chicken fritter, served with sweet and spicy Thai sauce dipping.

This is very good for snack before meal. Love the presentation. Tasted just like any other fried chicken fritter, but it’s addicting. We couldn’t stop munching it. But, it will be nice if they make it more flavour. We don’t really like Thai sauce. So it’s a little bit tasteless without the sauce.

Peanut Sponge Cake 25k

Yum! Peanut and sponge cake. When I chose this one, I expected nothing but a sponge cake sprinkles with peanuts. One bite, and I melted. Literally. I’m writing about this cake, and I’m drooling. Hmmm.. I think I have to go back there again to buy the whole cake hahahaahaha..

March 7th, 2017. Finally visited this place with Aline, Cindy and Ivan. Hooray. It was quite viral because it belongs to a celebrity chef. Eclectic cuisine concept of modern French & Japanese dishes by Chef Juna Rorimpandey. Correlate.

Correlate is the culmination of an extensive culinary passion, featuring an easeful dining room fit for a delightful feast and a refined lounge that favors warm social affairs.

From outside, I coudn’t imagine what’s inside. When I came, I felt a little bit “wow what a fancy place” feeling. But not that intimidating. The people there were very friendly. And OMG! I saw Chef Juna myself, I was so shy to ask him for a selfie hahaha.. I just looked at him and smiled. *blushing* Ok back to the place. Located in Menara Rajawali, Correlate was very easy to find since it’s in the front area of the building. It’s very spacious with different kind of tables. Just drop by and see for yourself.

Such a delicious twist. Most people are delighted by mac ‘n cheese, but I have preference. I love it when it’s smooth and creamy. It’s gooey and cheesy. Classic. Served in a plate, this mac ‘n cheese stole my heart at the first aroma. They use 2 kinds of cheese. Chevre and Grana Padano. Délicieux.

Goat cheese, goats’ cheese, or chèvre, is cheese made from goat’s milk.

Mango mousse, almond dacquoise

Great texture of the mango mousse. Love the almond dacquiose. Dacquoise is a dainty little cake layer with crisp and sweet. It is a light meringue that has almond folded into it and baked in a thin layer. Hmm.. yum..

Love it! The ingredients mixed beautifully, created a fresh and delicious salad dish. A wonderful blend with a light tasty dressing. I didn’t like salad, remember? But I love this.

Chasoba (Green Tea Buckwheat Noodles) with Japanese Littleneck Clams and Prawns 91k

At first I thought it’s a cold soba, but the server said it’s not cold. So yeah I agreed to choose this dish. Turned out, it’s very delightful. Love the texture, and it’s really genius to put japanese littleneck clams and prawns to accompany the chasoba. The frisée salad enhanced the beautiful presentation of it. Recommended!

Cha Soba noodles are soba noodles made from buckwheat and wheat flour with the added ingredient of fresh green tea leaves.

Venerupis philippinarum is an edible species of saltwater clam, a marine bivalve mollusk in the family Veneridae, the Venus clams. The common names of the species include “Asari” (after its Japanese name), “Japanese littleneck”, “Manila clam”, “steamer clam”, “Filipino Venus”, “Japanese cockle”, and “Japanese carpet shell”.

A different kind of dessert. The bowl was pretty! Hihihi. I wanted to keep it in my bag, too bad there’s people everywhere. Hahahaha just kidding! Actually Cindy wanted to keep it in her bag. LOL! Ok, the peppermint mousse was smooth and silky. Delicious cardamom ice cream and chocolate honeycomb. And I want it, right now. Hmmm..

Woolloomooloo at MNC iNews Centre Kebon Sirih Jakarta

March 23rd, 2017. Cafe hopping with sister, and we stranded at Menteng area on the rainy day. A new cafe woohoo. And its name was very unique. Adopted the name from a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, it’s really something else. Woolloomooloo.

Woolloomooloo is 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. Woolloomooloo’s Finger Wharf is one of the longest timber wharves in the world. Once a busy cargo dock, there are restaurants, a marina and Ovolo, a boutique hotel.

I saw it on IG account of a foodie friend. And when my sister asked me to join her today, I told her about this place, and we decided to visit the new cafe. We arrived around 8:30 and it’s only us. Well, located at an office building, it must be crowded during lunch time. The place was adorable. We love it. It’s very spacious dominated with wooden interior design and traditional ornaments from Australia. At one corner, they have stairs to 2nd level which is more like a simple mezzanine. And we felt at home there. I wish I brought my laptop. I think I will stay there until it closed. LOL.

I told my sister to pick the drink, and we agreed to pick this nut job. It’s actually a hazelnut beverage. We love it! But I hope they make it less sweet. It’s a little bit too sweet for me. But the taste of the hazelnut was very rich. And it’s really beautiful presentation. Love it!

Delicious banana milk cake. Creamy texture with splendid banana flavour. It never stops to amaze us in every single bite. The texture of the banana was impeccable. The combination of the cake, the banana and the milk cream were flawless. Recommended!

Common Grounds at Neo Soho Mall Tanjung Duren Jakarta

March 18th, 2017. I saw about it on friends’ Instagram accounts a couple days ago. So when Hans called me and asked me to come to the place with him on last Saturday, I told my hubby to join us. So, after a cake tasting in Plaza Indonesia, we headed to Neo Soho Mall. Common Grounds.

Coffee continues to amaze us. From its journey from plant to portafilter we are obsessed about how good coffee is crafted. Whether brewed meticulously over filters, or carefully prepared as an espresso, our goal is to show you coffee’s delicious possibilities.

In Jakarta, Common Grounds had 2 outlets. First at Citywalk, then Pondok Indah Mall. Now they open their 3rd outlet at Neo Soho Mall. Other than those 3, they have other outlets in Bandung and Surabaya. So, let’s go to Neo Soho Mall. I love this outlet more than the previous ones. It’s more spacious with more comfortable ambiance and more contemporary atmosphere. So yeah, it’s better than the others. They have outdoor area and it’s very cozy. Also, you can find La Maison there. Perfect, right?

Well, different palate, I think. But if you’re very very hungry, you’ll be happy when you order this one. For 70k it’s a really big portion! Wow. I couldn’t finish it. *sobbing* So just go to Common Grounds near your place, and order this one. Hahaha..

March 7th, 2017. Finally, I got a chance to visit one of the place that opened around December 2016. Yes a little bit late for me, because I have to find friends to come to the place. I didn’t wanna come alone. I was a shy person. Hahahahahaha. *nobody believe that, Yen. nobody!* So when Aline, Cindy and Ivan wanted to join me, I was grateful. Ático. The Spanish Authentic Cuisine by Javanegra Gourmet Atelier. I never went to Javanegra but I heard it’s really good. Well, we don’t talk about Javanegra. We will talk about Ático. Located at the rooftop of Menara BTPN. Well, you must ask the security there because they have different elevator to go to Rooftop area. They divided into 2 area. Indoor and outdoor. And I love their outdoor. Pretty ambiance with comfortable atmosphere.

I saw this one on Hans’ review. And I want to order it. Funny thing, Cindy saw the same photo and asked me to order this one, also. So, we ordered it. It’s quite small. Hahaha.. It’s 4 of us, fought over the tiny omelette LOL. Ok, next time I will go back there again and order this omelette only for me. Tasted delicious with perfect texture of the potatoes. Recommended for a starter.

Cindy and Aline chose this one for us. I forgot how we wanted the meat’s level. Was it medium or medium-rare? Hmmm.. I think medium. Well, anyhow, it’s a juicy wagyu beef. I didn’t add any spices or herbs, and I still enjoyed this superb beef. Delicate and melt in your mouth. Well look the the photos. Tempting right? Sexy jus. Hmmm..

We had already took photos when I realized they didn’t serve us the cake with the other dishes. So I went inside and asked them about our cake. Not long after that, it came to our table. And I said to the cake, “You better be freakin’ delicious!” And, it was! The baileys, the cheesecake, the crumbles, perfect! Melt in your mouth, literally. Don’t ever forget to order this when you’re there. @yennymakanmulu approved!

[EVENT] Good France 2017 at Lyon Mandarin Oriental Thamrin Jakarta

March 15th, 2017. I was invited to one notable French restaurant located in the heart of Jakarta. It’s about Good France 2017. I heard about it, but totally forget. So when they invited me to join Good France, I asked them, “Is that a new restaurant?” LOL! Silly me! Ahahahaha.. They were so kind, they told me that it’s an event. And I said, “OMG! Yes, I remember! Stupid me! Definitely I will come.” So that night, I came to the French restaurant. Lyon Mandarin Oriental.

This was my first time to Lyon. What a lovely place. Elegant atmosphere with sophisticated ambiance, Lyon offers a range of classic dishes from across France. The tuna was perfect. Easy to chew with melt in your mouth texture. Taste delicious. Served with niçoise vegetables and olive oil, it’s a simple starter yet a rich dish. Recommended!

Gruyère Cheese and Croûtons

Best classic onion soup. I didn’t catch any smell of onions. Yaay! Actually They mixed the cheese and croutons into the onion soup. I ate a spoonful and almost cried. So hot! Hahahaha.. The cheese got stuck in my tongue LOL. I wanna cry, literally. But the soup was addicting. True! I couldn’t stop eating the soup. Hans even took the complimentary bread, and dipped it into the soup. De-li-ci-ous.

Gruyère is a hard yellow cheese, named after the town of Gruyères in Switzerland, and originated in the cantons of Fribourg, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Jura, and Berne.

The Lobster Bisque

Black Truffle Whipped Cream

It’s good but too bad I ate the onion soup before this. It became a little bit tasteless. Thank goodness the black truffle and the whipped cream enhanced the flavour of this menu. The rich texture of the bisque was overwhelming.

Bisque is a smooth, creamy, highly seasoned soup of French origin, classically based on a strained broth of crustaceans. It can be made from lobster, langoustine, crab, shrimp or crayfish.

The Black Angus Striploin Rossini

Seared Foie Gras, Red Onion Marmalade and Perigourdine Jus

“You had me at foie gras.” Hahaha. Then they had me at striploin, of course. The striploin was tender and succulent. And the foie gras’ texture was mind-blowing. Such a romantic dish actually. The relationship between striploin and foie gras based on trust, I guess. They trust each other to bring such a sensual dish in front of me. Hmmm..

The Roasted Cod Fillet

Herb Crushed Potatoes, Spinach and Grenobloise Sauce

The texture of the cod fillet was devastating. The delicate flavour of cod is wonderfully paired with the crushed potatoes and spinach. Actually, the herb crushed potatoes was very well-seasoned. This flavourful and tender cod fillet was a recommended dish.

The Paris-Brest

Praline, Chocolate Mousse and Hazelnut

This was heaven for chocolate lovers. The perfect indulgent dessert with a traditional praline filling. Love the chocolate mousse! Not too sweet. And the presentation was astounding. Chocolate rings piled up with creams. Such a darling.

A Paris–Brest is a French dessert, made of choux pastry and a praline flavoured cream.
