Hello Sunday Eatery & Desserts at Cikini Jakarta

September 9th, 2017. So sorry for my late review about Hello Sunday. Yes, it was 2 months ago, OMG! I was super duper busy! And a little bit forgetful? LOL. Ok, let’s start about the review, ok? I was invited to Hello Sunday, to try their food. I was very happy, since I wanted to visit the place, but never had a chance.

Located on 2nd floor of Metropole 21, Hello Sunday is a lovely place. Before came to the place, I saw their photos from my Instagram timeline. And when I came inside, I could see the beauty of the place. Bright atmosphere with lovely ambiance. I loved their outdoor area. Very good for those #OOTD lovers. 🙂

I chose quinoa beef salad over saigon chicken salad.
It's really delicious with the well-seasoned beef bulgogi.
A little bit spicy, but I could still enjoying the salad.
Definitely one recommended salad, even for those who didn't like salad.

I loved my rosemary chicken! Pleasant taste with flavourful puree potato.
They grilled the chicken, and the result was spectacular.
The skin of the chicken was very crunchy yet tender.
The chicken meat was also tender and juicy. I gave 100 points for the chicken!
The BIG! chicken waffle was too big for me. But it's very unique.
2 chicken fillets with 2 waffles *with a perfect texture* pilling up.
One recommended dish to share with your loved one.
The sunday special angel hair pasta was also good.
Served with a very thick salmon with great flavour and texture.

Putu Waffle was very particular menu, I guess. And it was funtastic.
Inspired by a traditional Kue Putu, they combined the putu with waffle.
Not a fancy menu, but worth-to-try.
I love my sunday's in waffle bar. Tasted so good with es teler soft ice cream.
The waffle itself was in perfect texture. Dabest.
BIG! honey toast was good for sharing dessert.
Love the java tea flavour.

All of the drinks were delicious.
Iced lemonade and Iced Yuzu were thirst-quenching drinks. So refreshing!
The affogato was quite strong.
I only tried a sip, and gave it the rest to my friends. LOL.

We came to De’Langit Pool Bar and amazed with the view. It’s like in Japan, with railway train and trains frequently back and forth. And the pool was amazing. It’s Infinity Pool. Very beautiful.

They served many dishes during dinner. All of them were delicious.
But my favourite was the Sapo Tahu. It's really really good.
The broth. The tofu. Mixed it with steamed rice, it's amazing.
Well, I'm drooling right now, remembering the flavour of the Sapo Tahu hahahaha..

BREAKFAST

I love the ambiance of the restaurant. And how they arranged the food. They had enough variants of the food. But my favourite from the breakfast was the dimsum. It’s so delicious I refilled my plate all morning long hahaha.. But I forgot to take photos of the dimsum, since we ate them in a wink. LOL.

Bakoel Koffie at Cikini Menteng Jakarta

April 20th, 2017. A simple review about Bakoel Koffie. Why simple? Since they didn’t allow me to take photos with my camera, I did some photos with my iphone. Pardon my photos, please.

I read somewhere that they named it Bakoel Koffie to tribute a lady who sold coffee beans in a bakoel (basket). That’s why their logo is a lady bring a bakoel. When they opened the coffee shop in 1878, they named it: Tek Sun Ho: Eerste Weltevredensche Koffiebranderij (First Coffee Roasting Company). Then they changed it to Bakoel Koffie. It’s a spacious coffee shop, the first floor for smoking area, the second floor for non smoking area. When I came, it’s so crowded, I couldn’t explore the floor. Maybe next time..

Alibi Coffee at Cikini Menteng Jakarta

April 20th, 2017. I got invitation to a restaurant at Menteng area. So I thought, ‘Why don’t I visit a coffee shop near the restaurant?’ And, after some considerations, I visited Alibi. I saw Alibi some times ago when I googled nearby coffee shops. Then, a friend went there. Now, it’s time for me to visit it.

Located on the roadside of Raden Saleh Raya, it has 2 levels. First level for non smoking area. Second level for smoking area. Love the atmosphere there. Like an old house with dim light and homey ambiance. Please enjoy my simple review.

this dish was also delicious. too bad, it was spicy. actually i told them to make it non spicy. but they put chili powder and it’s too spicy for me hahahaha.. so, after 2 spoonfulls, i asked them to wrap the rice for me to take it home. next time, i will tell them more detail hahahaha..

Umaramu Indonesian Noodle at Menteng Huis Cikini Jakarta

March 12th, 2017. Once upon a time, there’s a young man. He was born in a family with noodle business. He really loves noodle. He wanted to build a place where everybody can find a lot of authentic Indonesian noodles. Well, he did it! Finally. Umaramu.

“Uma” word comes from traditional custom home from Sumba. Ramu means blending spices. So it means home for blending spices. The owner wanted to show honor to the culinary Indonesia, the wealth of spices are blended in such a way it creates unity flavor, aroma and color. When I stepped inside Umaramu, it’s not a spacious area, but very comfortable. I felt like at home. They have small smoking area on the back side of the place.

It’s really a unique presentation. They stacked the fried dumplings and put the garnish in the middle. Love it. It’s crunchy and crispy and delicious. You can eat it while waiting for the main course. It’s good for a starter and also for side dish.

It’s for sharing, so I didn’t put the bakwan into the bihun. Next time I come, I will put it into the bihun and let’s see how it works. LOL. Well, it was delicious, but I prefer to mix it together.

Not really my favourite. The noodle was dry, maybe because we’re taking photos too long. The shrimp was also dry. That’s why sometimes the chef wanted us not to take photos too long. “Eat the noodle now! Eat the meat now! Don’t take photos anymore!” Hahahahaha well, that’s their job, of course. But for us, we cannot stop taking photos until we get the most perfect one. 🙂

Mie Titi 42k

It’s a popular noodle from Makasar cuisine. A type of dried noodle served with capcay. Similar to I Fu Mie, only the noodle is thinner.

The recipe was devised by a Chinese descent, Ang Kho Tjao. He opened his noodle shop to sell his dried noodle and it gaining popularity in Makassar since early 1970s. Ang Kho Tjao passed his knowledge of the recipe to his three children namely Hengky, Awa’, and Titi. After Ang Kho Tjao died, dried noodle shop business was continued by his three children who separately opened their own shop. Titi’s are the most popular in Makassar, hence the name of “Mie Titi” become synonymous with Makassar dried noodle.

This was mine. And I loveeeeeee it! Rawon is one of my favourite dishes. It’s hard to find delicious rawon, trust me. Every place claimed that they had the most delicious rawon, but when I tried, it’s not my type. At Umaramu, they made delicious rawon recipe. The beef was also juicy and tender. MY FAVOURITE RAWON!

Another favourite of mine. I think I ate this one a lot hahaha. Combination of tahu telor dish with rice. Love the peanut sauce. The telor tahu was big portion. I was overwhelming. Actually I plan to order this by delivery online. I think my hubby will love it.

Gelato Secrets at ShopHaus Menteng Jakarta

January 30th, 2017. After a visit to hotel at Cawang area, we drove to Menteng. There’s a new place that I wanted to go there since it’s opened. Well, finally I had a chance to go there. I was invited to come to one of their tenants. So, I went there with Vivi *remember my niece?* We went to ShopHaus, finally. Gelato Secrets.

Gelato Secrets was founded by Maria Indah and Gregory Carlo Lentini. They were inspired by their childhood memories and a shared love and passion for gelato. First shop was in Ubud in 2009. They use only 100% natural, fresh ingredients from carefully selected suppliers, free from artificial flavouring, colouring and preservatives, comprising both Italian classics and exotic Indonesian flavours derived from seasonal local fruits and spices. Now they opened in Jakarta, located in ShopHaus. Hooray! The cute outlet, side by side with a coffeeshop, welcomed us in the facade of ShopHaus.

They gave us options of 24 flavours from the gelato bar. Baileys, Rum Raisins, Coffee & Hazelnut, Salted Butter Caramel, Jasmine Tea, Vanilla Bean from Singaraja Bali, Lemon with Candied Zest, Pistachio, Durian from Medan, Brownies Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate from Tabanan Bali, Ferrero Rocher, Raw Chocolate, Chocolate Chili, Green Tea, Bamboo Charchoal Organic Vanilla Bean from Sulawesi, Cheese Cake with Passion Fruit Sauce, Blueberry Lavender, Coconut & Chocochips, Mango Harum Manis, Lemongrass, Coconut Pandan, Yoghurt with Raspberry Sauce, and Strawberry. Whoaaaa.. so hard to choose, right?

Vivi chose the M size with 3 flavours. Baileys, Lemon with Candied Zest, and Bamboo Charchoal Organic Vanilla Bean from Sulawesi. She loved those flavours. And I think the most favourite of her was the lemon with candied zest. I love it too.

I myself chose the L size with 4 flavours. Salted Butter Caramel, Jasmine Tea, Dark Chocolate from Tabanan Bali, and Mango Harum Manis. I loved the Jasmine Tea. It tasted exactly like Teh Botol. LOL. But my crush was the Salted Butter Caramel. It’s like the teddy bear that you want to cuddle all day long. 🙂 I guess I have to bring my hubby here. He’s a gelato’s lover. Wait for us!

I chose Cheese Cake with Passion Fruit Sauce on top of the waffle. I really like the texture of the waffle. It’s not too soft and not too crispy. Just the perfect texture that I fond of. The cheese cake with passion fruit sauce gelato, was one of the perfect companion of the waffle.
