December 13th, 2016. Another recommended place in Bali. Actually I thought it will be one exclusive place like a club, because the name is very uncommon. But when we arrived there, it’s like any other hang out place in Bali. Betty Lou BBQ Bar.
A casual American dining serving slow-smoked BBQ and Southern-style comfort. Located in the Petitenget street, right above the The Holly Crab Bali, I concluded that they are in the same group. About the name, Betty Lou, I didn’t know why they named it Betty Lou. But I googled and I found that there’s an actress: Betty Lou Keim. Just click the name, and you will see the biography and the photo of Betty Lou. Exactly the same person at the wall of the place. I had a very nice experience here. The people were nice and friendly. Great service! By the way, we had place like this in Jakarta. It was called Holy Smokes. Same owner, similar place, even similar bottle of the sauces LOL.
BEVERAGES
from left to right
Betty’s Mix 30k
Half iced tea and half lemonade
Betty Lou’s Strawberry Lemonade 35k
Classic sidewalk lemonade blended with strawberry
Tropical Iced Tea 20k
Love all the beverages. They had their own speciality with one intention: being a thirst-quenching drinks hahaha..
APPETIZERS
Parmesan Zucchini Fries 60k
Parmesan crusted zucchini fingers, served with house tomato dip.
At first, they wanted to order nachos. But then, changed to parmesan zucchini fries. I thought it would be awful. Well, I used to think zucchini is cucumber hahahaha. Actually it is very hard to distinguish between the two because when these two vegetables are placed right next to each other they both have the same exact dark green skin, pale and seedy flesh, and long cylindrical shape. But Cucumbers have a cold and waxy bumpy feeling exterior and Zucchinis have a rough and dry exterior. So, they are different. We can eat raw cucumbers, but prefer cook zucchinis before consume them. Back to this zucchini. The texture of parmesan zucchini fries was in between of crisp and spongy. The crisp came from being deep-fried, and the spongy came from the original texture of the zucchini. Don’t forget to dip it into the house tomato dip. Addicting!
SLOW-SMOKED BARBECUE
All our meat is wood smoked, low and slow up to 18 hours. Served with your choice of 2 sides: homecut fries, burnt carrots, mac & cheese, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, creamy coleslaw, BBQ beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, fresh greens.
Texas-style Wagyu Beef Brisket 170k
Marbled wagyu beef brisket slow-smoked over 18 hours, hand carved and served with our original BBQ sauce. It doesn’t get more Texas than this!
It’s very hard to choose for our main course. Everything looks so mouthwatering. Appetizing. Tempting. But finally after one and other considerations *which I forgot what the considerations were hahaha* we chose this Texas-style Wagyu Beef Brisket. Slow-smoked over 18 hours, made this a super tender and super juicy beef. It’s so tasty because they had already put the original BBQ sauce. But if you were those people who loves richer taste of wagyu beef, you can add more sauce in your beef at your palate. It’s why they serve the sauces on the table. Most recommended!
We had to choose 2 sides. After a tough discussion *hahaha* we chose corn on the cob and fresh greens. We needed colours for our photos, that’s why we chose corn and vegetables. Surprisingly the fresh greens were the most delicious vegetables. I couldn’t stop eating the fresh greens.
Creamy Crawfish Spaghetti 120k
Spaghetti with fresh crawfish tails in light tomato cream sauce.
I never thought tomato can mix perfectly with cream. But this one proved that they could have such a romantic relationship. The texture of the spaghetti was also perfect for my palate. No complaint for this dish. They used crawfish as the meat in the dish. Crawfish is like a mini lobster. I love the crawfish. Crunchy texture with scrumptious taste. Recommended!
I will be back. Beyond any doubt. My hubby loves steak and brisket and things like that. So, it’s a must for me to bring him there. Hope I can be back to Bali on February. Finger-crossed!
