Greyhound Café Indonesia at Grand Indonesia West Mall Thamrin Jakarta

September 12th, 2017. Finally Greyhound Café open for public. So before everybody come to the place, I have to be there first. LOL. Well, actually I had to be at Kelapa Gading area this morning with Tasya *waving to the beautiful gal* but the night before I had some breakdown because I drank coffee before lunch, and I spent my afternoon with not-being-well condition. My hubby then forbid me to go to Kelapa Gading since it’s too far from my home. When I woke up yesterday morning, I felt so much better. Tasya texted me and asked me if I want to join her today to Greyhound’s private lunch. Well, why not?

Not your expected “THAI”, our restaurant is a real “Bangkok” café. With food and mood the way Bangkokians love it today. Like the city where it was born, our restaurant offers a mixture of taste in culture and art. From traditional to modern, from street to high style, from local to international. All mixed together in a beautiful chaotic way.

I just found out that they’re under Arena group. Yaaaay. I was very sure that the food must be good! When I came inside the cafe, I was stunned by their interior. It’s very spacious with murals everywhere. Yes, it’s very spacious. They divided into 3 areas. The first area was the coffee and cakes bar with comfortable seats. Then getting inside, you will find a large dining area. And there’s a semi private room for 12 pax, I guess. What a lovely place to eat, chit chat, me time, and everything else.

Thai Tea Granita 52k

One of the best Thai Tea I’ve ever tried. Well, I only tried a small amount of Thai Tea since it’s never my favourite drink. They put granita in the thai tea. It’s sweet and flavourful. Usually Thai Tea gave me some weird taste, but this one was very different. OMG! I’m craving for this thai tea granita!!

Granita is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily, it is available all over Italy in somewhat different forms.

Salmon Carpaccio in Spicy Hot Sauce 88k

Sliced fresh salmon swims in special Thai spicy sauce.

When I read this menu, I was afraid that it will be super sour and super spicy. Carpaccio wasn’t really my thing, actually. But Greyhound did a very good job with this salmon carpaccio. It’s not too spicy. And it’s really a great combination between sour and spicy, with a hint of sweet flavour. Maybe it’s from the fresh salmon. Definitely one of the finest salmon carpaccio I’ve ever tried. No b*llsh*t!

IMG_4880 IMG_4890 IMG_4879

Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings 65k

Deep fried marinated mini chicken wings in fish sauce. A family recipe, legend has it, someone dropped an entire batch on the beach but decided to brush the sand off and continued nibbling.

Couldn’t stop munching this fried chicken wings. Well, simple presentation with uncomplicated appearance. A mini size chicken wings. It’s indeed a small portion with a bombastic taste. Well-seasoned. Crispy and crunchy with no oily texture. Topnotch!

Phad Thai with Fresh Prawns 95k

Fried Thai rice noodle with tamarind sauce and fresh prawns served with crushed peanuts and chili powder.

Served in separated presentation. We had to mix it with passion LOL. A different kind of pad thai that I used to eat *I didn’t eat many pad thai actually LOL*, this one had a really strong taste of sweet. And I loved it! The bean sprouts were fresh-crunchy. Deliciously brilliant with the crushed peanuts. Enhanced the tamarind flavour of the phad thai. Super recommended!

Phad thai is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served as a street food and at casual local eateries in Thailand.

Thai Braised Beef Noodle Soup with Beef Balls 85k

Rice noodle in very tender braised beef soup and beef balls, served with chili sauce.

More broth please! Outstanding flavour with addicting beef balls. Well the texture of the rice noodle was too al-dente for me. I prefer they make the rice noodle fluffier next time. The braised beef was a little bit dry in texture. But other than that, it’s almost perfect.

IMG_4884 IMG_4885

Chocolate Banana Crepe Cake 62k

Light and thin crepes, layered with banana, custard and fresh cream, topped with chocolate sauce.

Need more banana flavour inside the layers of custard and fresh cream. The texture was also too hard to cut. But I loved the chocolate sauce. Not too sweet. Just the right amount of flavour.

IMG_4900 IMG_4901

Fresh Coconut Crepe Cake 72k

Light and thin crepes, layered with fresh cream and fresh coconut meat.

DABEST! It’s light, it’s thin, it’s silky, it’s fluffy. It’s everything I wished in this dessert since the first time I laid my eyes on it. Coconut was never my favourite, but this coconut crepe cake will be my first favourite coconut dessert. I recommended this one for you guys. If you don’t like coconut, it’s fine, but I suggest you to try this one first. And tell me about it.

Ray’s Bottle of Joe at Grand Indonesia West Mall Thamrin Jakarta

August 2nd, 2017. I was on my way to another event, when Natasha asked me to join her to Grand Indonesia. She was heading to a meeting there. Well, I remember that Ray’s Bottle of Joe just opened in Grand Indonesia, so I asked Natasha to keep me company.

Ray’s Bottle of Joe is a Traditional-style iced coffee concentrate that’s brewed and bottled by hand at Ray’s Lab. Each batch is made by steeping a special blend of freshly roasted coffee from all regions around indonesia in water overnight, then extracting the ground using a two-step filtration process. What remains? A bold, super-smooth concentrate that can be mixed with cold milk or water and served over ice. You can even serve it mixed it with hot water. It’s quick, painless, and delicious.

Occupied a petite island coffee bar at Level 3A West Mall Grand Indonesia, Ray’s Bottle of Joe caught my attention because of the cute barista.. LOL! Just kidding! I mean, well, yeah they have this cute barista, but it’s not the only reason I went there. Hahaha.. I was very curious with their coffee, for sure. I love their tagline: simple honest coffee, since I needed that kind of coffee. Not a complicated one.

Yuzu Cold Brew Coffee 38k

It’s Natasha’s order. And I didn’t like it at all. Hahaha.. It’s sour and bitter at the same time. OMG! Not my type, sorry.

Pink Beach 38k

Love it. Like they said, “Pink Beach will excite and delight you at the same time. It’s coffee beautifully merged with the freshness of berries topped with silky smooth citrusy cream on top.” It’s beautiful and delightful. My kind of coffee.

Nutella and Regal Bomba

It’s a doughnut with no hole. I have no idea why they call it bomba. Nutella and Regal bomba. You can choose your favourite.

Tim Ho Wan at Grand Indonesia West Mall Thamrin Jakarta

December 5th, 2016. Whoaaaaa it’s been so long since I went to Tim Ho Wan with my high school friends. That time was also my first time there. I arrived there around 10:30, waited for those ladies. Then, they came. Yaaaaay. We talked, laughed, and gossiped!

Located on LG floor at Grand Indonesia, Tim Ho Wan occupied at a corner area. It’s not difficult to find it, since it’s quite spacious with big logo in the facade. Dominated with green colour, Tim Ho Wan came from Hong Kong. And this was their second outlet in Jakarta.

I tried all the dishes above.
But my favourite was only their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork.
We ordered 2 portions hahahaha..
The other dishes were just okay for me.
Although, my friend loved their Fried Milk Custard.
Well, for me, I prefer they make it softer texture.
Anyway, I will be back for their Baked Bun BBQ Pork.

The People’s Cafe (New Outlet) Grand Indonesia West Mall Thamrin Jakarta

January 9th, 2017. I didn’t plan anything this morning, when my friend texted me and asked me to join him. “Come here. I’m at The People’s Cafe Grand Indonesia.” I was stunned. “What?” He said, “Yes, they’re opening today. Come!” And so I came. The People’s Cafe.

Located at the same level in Grand Indonesia, The People’s Cafe opened their new outlet. It’s bigger and more comfortable. I love it! Still with friendly gesture and hospitality from the people. I really felt at home here. By the way, they have their own smoking area. Cool right? Well I won’t make a long review. Just a simple one. Yes, because I don’t like complicated things. Hahahaha.. *big grin*

IMG_1920 IMG_1912 IMG_1913 IMG_1914 IMG_1915 IMG_1916 IMG_1918 IMG_1919 IMG_1934 IMG_1935 IMG_1936

Crispy Hot Tofu 35k

Slices of crispy fried tofu. Served with sweet chili soy sauce

Nasi Uduk Ayam Goreng 50k

Indonesian style steamed rice cooked in coconut milk. Served with fried chicken, sweet soy egg, stir fried tempeh & tofu, fried glass noodle, crackers & lalapan

Love the fried chicken. But I think I prefer more coconut milk in the rice. And please make the texture of the rice softer. Well, I know everybody has their own palate. This review based on my judging hahahaha.. Well, it’s still delicious, for sure.

IMG_1922 IMG_1923

Salted Egg Chicken 45k

Chunks of deep fried battered chicken coated with salted egg yolk sauce & fragrant curry leaves. Served with rice & a sunny side up egg

Still the best dish at The People’s Cafe. If you haven’t tried this, please do. Please! It’s heaven in your mouth. The chicken was appetizing. Tender and juicy. The salted egg yolk sauce was superb. Perfect way to eat the chicken. OMG! I finished a portion almost by myself, and now I still craving it while writing about it. LOL!

Mie Nyonya Bun 38k

Egg noodles with minced chicken, mushroom & vegetables. Served with fried wonton. With beef meatballs add 10k

Love the texture of the noodle. Slim. I hate thick noodle. And yes, you should order additional beef meatballs. A great bonus in your noodle. I didn’t try the fried wonton. I let my friend finished it. By the way, pour the broth into the noddle. Another boost for the noodle. Perfect!

Mie Ireng Dori 48k

Charcoal infused noodles with fried dory, topped with spicy sambal

I didn’t try this one. Too spicy for me. But, many people loved it. So, I was sure, it must be very good. Maybe I will try this one, next time. And ask them to make it not so spicy. Hahaha..

Thanks The People’s Cafe and Ismaya. Always a favourite.

Popolamama Grand Indonesia Thamrin Jakarta

December 6th, 2015. I went to Popolamama at Grand Indonesia level 3A. They’re launching new menu for this holiday season. I love their place. It’ quite big with lovely ambiance. I came with a bunch of food-enthusiasts (thanks for the invitation guys). We were so lucky to be the first to try those appetizing food and exquisite desserts before they launch it to public.

IMG_0162 IMG_0160 IMG_0164

Popolamama combined Japanese food and Italian food. Popolamama itself came from the words: popolare (popular) and mama (mom). In Italy it means something like: the best food was mom’s cooking. The first Italian Fresh Pasta and Homemade Napoli Style Pizza. Fyi, this is their 3rd outlet in Jakarta. Comfortable place to eat lunch or dinner.

IMG_0163 IMG_0161 IMG_0159 IMG_0166

Arabiatta Shrimp Pasta 85k

Arrabiata sauced blended with fresh pasta and topped with six deep fried king prawns & mizuna

Spicy but addicting. And I love the texture of the pasta. A little bit soft and delicate. But do you know what I love the most? The king prawns!! They were delicious and well-seasoned. Crunchy crispy texture. I ate it and complained, “Aaaargh spicy. Me no likey.” But, my fork came back to the plate over and over again. LOL.

Arrabbiata sauce, or sugo all’arrabbiata in Italian, is a spicy sauce for pasta made from garlic, tomatoes, and red chili peppers cooked in olive oil. “Arrabbiata” literally means “angry” in Italian; the name of the sauce may well be due to the heat of the chili pepper and one’s reaction to it.

Mizuna (ミズナ(水菜, “water greens”), shui cai, kyona, Japanese mustard, potherb mustard, Japanese greens, California peppergrass, or spider mustard is a cultivated variety of Brassica rapa nipposinica. The name is also used for Brassica juncea var. japonica.

Seafood Platter 120k

Deep fried dory, calamari, & king prawns with durum semolina flour, dip it to our signature Aioli Sauce

Simple dish. Just dory, calamity and king prawns. But, it was worth the price! Delicious with big portion! I couldn’t stop munching the king prawns. And the calamari was in perfect texture. Not too hard to chew. The dory was tender and very mild. It was a very nice starter. Order this while you eating with your buddies. Trust me. You aren’t going to play with your gadgets because you are too busy chewing this and having fun with your very best friends. It’s like, seafood platter’s connecting people. LOL.

The durum wheat is milled to remove the bran and germ, leaving the rich yellow endosperm granules called semolina. This is then ground into flour and used to make pasta. Semolina granules are used for cereals and couscous.

Wafu Kara-age Rice 48k

Deep fried chicken kara-age with special wafu soy sauce, served with steamed rice and bano wafu sauce salad

Chicken Teriyaki Rice 48k

Grilled chicken teriyaki – fragrant and tender, served with steamed rice and roasted sesame salad

I fell in love. Over and over again. Salty, sweet and delicious chicken teriyaki that are perfect to serve over rice. And the chicken was boneless. Superb! Mix the chicken and the rice, and the flavours worked so well together. Recommended dish. One of the best chicken teriyaki dish. I still remember the taste of it, swimming in my mouth. Truly a winner.

Chicken Cacciatore Rice 48k

Slow cooked chicken breast with tomato cacciatore sauce, sautéed carrot and buna shimeji mushroom, served with steamed rice and roasted sesame salad

Choco Banana Pizza 55k

Need more banana and more chocolate. Maybe they should pour the chocolate all over the banana. They called it pizza but the shape wasn’t like pizza at all. Hihihi. I prefer they make it like pizza. 😀

Green Tea Tiramisu 48k

OMG! Best green tea tiramisu ever! I didn’t really like green tea, except it’s kit kat green tea LOL. But, combine it with tiramisu, it was scrumptious. Very very recommended. The texture was very delicate. Velvety fluffy. Ugh, I’m drooling right now. And btw, I was shocked that this photo in my IG finally got more than 1000 likes. Woohoo!! Please check my IG. @yennymichael

Chocolate Mousse 35k

Perfect texture, sweetness and chocolate flavour. Super creamy! Have you ever tried cloud? Well, I think it’s similar with this mousse. Hihihi. It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!!!

Mix Berries Smoothie 42k

I love it. It’s so sweet. Some people said it’s too sweet. But for me, it’s perfect. Refreshing with great texture of smoothie. Such a perfect drink to welcome this holiday season. Happy holiday guys.

Overall, I like those new holiday season menu. Popolamama did a great job on those delicious food and delightful desserts. Keep up the good work!!

My Pho Food Hall Grand Indonesia West Mall Thamrin Jakarta

June 16th, 2015. I went to My Pho with Jesfrid and Julia. Actually, Jesfrid asked me to accompany him to do the tasting. I had nothing to do that afternoon, so I said yes. I arrived at Grand Indonesia around 10.30am. I waited for them for an hour, then we directly went to Food Hall to find My Pho. And.. there it was..

The place was crowded because it’s lunch time. We met the owner, Ms Phan. She’s very nice and funny. Well, before I show you those Vietnamese food, let me show you the cute place. I didn’t take many photos, so if you want to know the place, just go there lah..

IMG_5377 IMG_5380 IMG_5381 IMG_5383

The Menu

Goi Cuon Tom & Ga 25k

Fresh Spring rolls with Chicken, Shrimp and Vegetables.

Not my favourite. I think I didn’t like the fragrant of it. And there’s something in it that I didn’t like. Hmm.. it’s still a mystery.. Hmm.. *suspicious gaze* Actually I didn’t like the rubbery texture of the wraps, too. I prefer the mushy one.

Cha Gio Que Huong 28k

Famous Fried Vietnamese Spring rolls with Chicken/Squid/Shrimp/Vegetables.

I prefer this fried spring rolls. Julia said, it’s too small, but for me, it’s a cute size. It’s springy and crispy at the same time. And I love the sauce. Dip the spring rolls to the sauce, and you’ll get addicted of it. Really nice for snacking time.

Banh Cuon 35k

Steam Rice Rolls with Chicken/Mushroom/Shrimp with our Special Sauce.

OMG! I was in love. So much in love. This was my favourite!!! I could eat all of them by myself. Actually, I planned to do that, but too bad, Julia noticed and she stared at me.. *if looks could kill LOL* The rice rolls were soft. Melt in your mouth!!! The fillings were delicious. If I had to describe it in one word, I would say, “HEAVEN!” And you know what, I will be back to My Pho, only to eat this. Trust me. It’s really THAT delicious.

Goi Ga 38k

Chicken Salad with our Special Vietnamese Sauce.

This was new menu. I didn’t have a chance to try it. I just took photo from someone that order it. Well, actually Ms. Phan asked me to take picture of it before she served it to her customer LOL.

Pho Tai Nam Bo Vien 55k

Beef Noodle Soup Combination of raw and well done beef, beef balls and tendon.

Their Pho was delicious, but I prefer richer taste in the broth. Those beef, beef balls and tendon were tender and easy to chew. I hate it when I had to fight with my meat. *sobbing*

Bun Bo Hue 48k

Spicy Beef Noodle Soup with Well-done Beef.

Actually it should be nice if not that spicy. Yup, it’s so spicy, all I could taste only spicy. I prefer not to finish it. Maybe if you like spicy noodle soup.. but for me? No.. sorry.. too spicy..

Bun Bu Nuong & Cha Gio 52k

Vermicelli with Grilled Beef/Fried Spring Rolls Vegetables with Our Special Vietnamese Sauce.

Another favourite of mine. It didn’t have much broth in it. But, I love vermicelli, easy to eat and very delicious. And the cha gio was very tasty. How to eat this? Pour the sauce, then mix it altogether. Then, enjoy!!!

Com Ga 46k

Vietnamese Grilled Chicken Seasoned with Our Special marinade topped with “Nuoc Man” Our Special Vietnamese Sauce. Served with Steamed Rice.

Rice dish! Finally! LOL. Yup, one of my favourites here. The chicken was very tender and well-seasoned. Served with fresh salad too. But I prefer to finish the chicken with the steamed rice hihihi. Recommended dish!

Thanks My Pho and Ms. Phan. And thanks a lot Jesfrid for asking me to join your private food tasting. See you again soon. 🙂
