MISE Jakarta at Bo Concept Building Wahid Hasyim Menteng Jakarta

November 10th, 2017. Someone told me about MISE. So, I stalked their IG account since September. They said, “We will open around October.” Yaaaaay. Then, I forgot about them. LOL. Pardon my brain. Hahaha. Mid October, “You open yet? You open yet? You open yet?” Wow, they were very patient with me. November 5th, they replied me, “Yes, we will have soft opening for INVITATION only.” And they sent me the invitation. YAAAAAY!

The establishment occupied the second level of Bo Concept Building. It’s very easy to find. Use your maps or waze, and voilà. The place isn’t very spacious but very lovely. Classic ambiance caught my eyes right away. And my favourite thing was the hanging light, or you can say minimalist chandelier? LOL.

MISECRET of Lemon, Lime & Bitter

Lavender 55k

I loved this one, sweet flavour with fresh texture. And it’s purple! LOL.

Cardamom 55k

Funny thing, I didn’t like this drink, but my hubby prefer this one rather than the lavender hahahaha.. So, it’s a match, right? I enjoyed the lavender and he enjoyed this cardamom. LOL.

Floss Gyutan Salad 80k

Fish Crumble | Wakame | Horenzo | Ginger Vinaigrette

Wow! Salad with gyutan. Wow! It was really good, my hubby told me that he wanted to finish it. And, yes, he never liked salad. It was that good! The gyutan was tender and juicy. The wakame and horenzo were so fresh, it didn’t feel like we ate vegetables. *hmmmm*

IMG_7784 IMG_7786 IMG_7785

Duck Pai Tee 80k

Pulled Duck | Burdock Salad | Truffle Pomme Puree

My hubby ate this one first, and he said, “OMG! It’s so good!” And I couldn’t agree more. When the truffle pomme puree burst in your mouth, you will feell foodgasm right away! The pulled duck was delicious also. Loved the pai tee.

Pie Tee is a thin and crispy pastry tart shell kuih filled with a spicy, sweet mixture of thinly sliced vegetables and prawns. It is a popular Peranakan dish. The shells are made of flour and though some stores will make them from scratch, they can usually be found ready made in most supermarkets. Similar to popiah, the main filling is shredded Chinese turnips and carrots, and usually these two dishes are sold by the same stall in hawker centres.

IMG_7788 IMG_7790

‘Lado Mudo’ Pai Tee 105k

Escargot | Pacri Pineapple

I found the escargot a little bit chewy. It’s spicy, so my hubby didn’t try it at all. They put a small bite of shrimp in it. Such a nice boost in the pai tee. I didn’t really fond of the pacri pineapple. But if you like pineapple in a dish, you’ll find it interesting.

IMG_7787 IMG_7789

‘Boca de Dragon’ pasta 100k

Angel Hair | Tuna Tataki | Signature Sambal

Beautiful presentation. I couldn’t stop taking photos of the dish. It’s cold when I finally tried it hahahaha. Hubby didn’t wanna try the dish since it was full of sambal. LOL. I think it’s similar with sambal matah. Tasted like sambal matah, actually, but I didn’t really ask them. Love the texture of the tuna tataki. It must be cooked outside and raw inside. What a lovely texture. The angel hair was a little bit al dente texture, but I still loved it.

IMG_7791 IMG_7792 IMG_7793

Saw’s Butter Burger 110k

Hand Pick Beef Patty | Caramelised Miso Onion | Salsa Rosa

Juicy and tender beef patty with delicious salsa rosa sauce. The texture of the bun was perfect. But, I wasn’t in a mood for burger, so I let hubby to finish it. I prepared my tummy for their other dishes. LOL.

IMG_7796 IMG_7797 IMG_7799 IMG_7800

Greiggy’s Signature Duck half 150k

Crispy Duck | Chef’s Rice | Trio Sambal | Lawar of Balinese Salad

When it came to our table, I thought, “It looks dry! Hmmm..” But when hubby ate it, he said to me, “OMG! It’s soooo tender and juicy and delicious.” Hahahaha.. I was told that the chef was from a familiar restaurant. And she was very good in this kind of dish. COOL! Trust me, you must try this one when you come to MISE. Super recommended! *pssst don’t forget to ask for extra lawar.. superb!*

IMG_7801 IMG_7803 IMG_7802

Prawn Laksa 110k

Prawn | Udon | Laksa Emulsion

For me, it’s the best Prawn Laksa so far! And I wasn’t exaggerating. Truly my honest opinion. The broth was well-seasoned with rich texture. The udon was soft. Such a winner! My hubby didn’t try it at all. So, I planned to finish it half portion, since it must be too much if I ate one full bowl, right? At the end, it was empty. *sigh* I was crazy about it, I didn’t leave anything in the bowl. LOL.

IMG_7804 IMG_7805 IMG_7806 IMG_7807 IMG_7811

Avocado Texture 80k

Avocado Espuma | Coral Sponge | Chocolate Soil | Dulcey De Leche

I never liked avocado, so it must be unfair for them to let me review this one. LOL. Well, I tried a bite, and I think it’s quite delish. If you like avocado,  you should try it. 🙂

Congratulations MISE for the soft opening. Thank you so very much for the lovely and delicious lunch. You made us very happy.

Upnormal Coffee Roaster at Wahid Hasyim Menteng Jakarta

August 16th, 2017. My hubby took leave from his work. So I asked him to keep me company to this new coffee roaster in Menteng area. Upnormal Coffee Roaster was born in Bandung. It’s a new member of Warunk Upnormal. And finally it opened in Jakarta.

At first I thought it must be related to Warunk Upnormal. When I arrived there, I was very sure. LOL. The place was spacious. There’re board games. And I met one of the owner there hahahahaa.. So yeah, I was pretty sure.

Caffe Latte 23k

I forgot to tell the barista to make it less coffee, since they used Arabica. I only sipped once, and I knew right away that I didn’t like it. I had no idea why, it’s just not my type. I tried to sip it again, and still didn’t like it. Maybe it’s too acid for me. Well, I will give them a try next time. 🙂

Roti Butter Special Upnormal 18k

Two slices of butter bread. And it was very delicious. It’s indeed very sweet, but it’s really good. The texture was good. I thought it will be slices of bread with a simple spread of butter. Just like that. Turned out the butter was very generous. Recommended!

IMG_3369 IMG_3370 IMG_3371

Roti Nutella 18k

It’s just like any other nutella bread. Too bad I was very full, so I took it away and ate it at home. It’s generous nutella spread with still fluffy texture of the bread. If you like nutella, you should try this one too.

IMG_3372 IMG_3373 IMG_3374

Congratulations Upnormal for the opening.

TigaLima Coffee & Kitchen at Wahid Hasyim Menteng Jakarta

May 11th, 2017. I noticed this one on my way home with hubby. A unique name, TigaLima Coffee & Kitchen, like their number on the street. It’s a humble place with comfortable atmosphere.

Divided into 2 area. Non smoking and smoking area. Spacious with white ambiance. Big parking area too. We just loved it.

IMG_7794 IMG_7770 IMG_7771 IMG_7772 IMG_7773 IMG_7774 IMG_7775 IMG_7778 IMG_7782 IMG_7783 IMG_7779 IMG_7780 IMG_7777 IMG_7776 IMG_7781

Caffe Latte 22k

I was a little disappointed about the coffee. It’s too watery with a very acidic coffee. My tummy was crying hahahaha.. But actually they told me that their coffee machine wasn’t ready. So, they did it manually. And it took so long for them to make my caffe latte. Hmmm I hope next time will be better. 🙂

Sunkiss 25k

OMG! This one was very good. It’s sweet and sour combination and very refreshing. Such a thirst-quenching drink.

Roti Panggang Nutella Keju 27.5k

Too much cheese hahahaha.. Well, for those that love cheese in their toast, will love this. But not me. Well, it will be more delicious if they put chocolate rice hahahaha. But the Nutella was generous. So, it’s ok for me.

IMG_7786 IMG_7787

Kue Moka 25k

My favourite! But, too small for me. I prefer thicker hahaha.. Love the texture and love the flavour.

IMG_7788 IMG_7790

I will be back for the food. I heard their fish is good.

Djati Bistro & Drinkery at Oria Hotel Wahid Hasyim Menteng Jakarta

February 14th, 2017. I visited this place after I saw someone’s post about this. I forgot which one, but it looked so pretty in the post. And when I came to the place, it’s even prettier. Djati Bistro & Drinkery opened 2 years ago I think. Good thing I found this one.

Located on second floor of Oria Hotel, I loved the interior and the ambiance. The monochrome floors. The semi industrial intimate atmosphere. It felt so homey. They have small smoking area too. But, I prefer inside. Lovelier. I think I will be back there again for some me-time moments.

IMG_3520 IMG_3500IMG_3505 IMG_3507 IMG_3511 IMG_3510 IMG_3514 IMG_3508 IMG_3503 IMG_3501 IMG_3502 IMG_3504 IMG_3517

Lychee Ice Tea 33k

Nasi Ayam Rica-Rica 72k

Spicedbowl full of Indonesian flavours of authentic Rica-Rica Sauce, smeared over fried chicken marinated with rice-rica sauce over night, accompanied with sauteed cassava leafs and fried salted teri fish. Served over Rice.

It’s spicy, certainly. I didn’t try this one, let my friend finished it hihihi..

IMG_3524 IMG_3525

Grilled Boneless Chicken 75k

A Sweet Dish of Grilled boneless chicken roasted over flamed char using sweet soy sauce and butter, complemented by sauteed vegetables with a choice of steamed rice, French fries, of mashed potatoes.

This was very delicious. It’s sweet and flavourful. Tender boneless chicken meat with mushy mashed potato. A great option for lunchtime. Actually, most of the time I ordered grilled chicken, the texture always dry. Not every time, but most of the time. And this time was great. Not dry at all. Rcommended!

[HOTEL] Kosenda Hotel Wahid Hasyim Jakarta – Petita Room

February 6th, 2016. I got a chance to experience a nice staycation at Kosenda Hotel. I heard about the hotel long time ago but never went there. So, when my friends asked me to join them, I said, “Definitely!” Located in Wahid Hasyim street near Thamrin area, I ordered Uber to take me there. It’s so easy to find the place.

When I arrived, I saw the hotel and I was amazed by their facade. It looked so tough with cute fish pond. I walked up the stairs straight to the lobby. It was a small lobby but very comfortable. Well, let me show you the pictures.

IMG_2717 IMG_2724 IMG_2718 IMG_2719 IMG_2721

The lobby was small. But quite nice. Well, when you are in a business trip, and you need some rest, you don’t need big lobby. You just need comfortable bed. Correct me if I’m wrong. So yeah, don’t expect big and beautiful and elegant lobby. Small and convenient enough to do some check-in. That’s all we need, right?

IMG_2774 IMG_2742

PETITA ROOM (Room 705)

Intimate and homey, 32 Petita rooms create new frontiers and experiences
Room size: 16.00 sam
Queen or twin bed
Luxury 33cm thick mattress with comfortable mattress top by Lady Americana
iPod Dock
4 complimentary 600 ml bottles of distilled water
Zucchetti and Duravit sanitary
FREE in room unlimited internet (wireless or broadband)
Goose down pillows and duvets
Satellite and cable TV

It’s a small room. When I came to the room, I was a little bit surprised, but after a while I thought, I didn’t need a spacious one because I won’t do anything in my room. There were so many things to do outside the room. Great thing, the bed was very comfortable. I found myself lying on the bed snugly. Fun fact: we had to listen to “dangdut” music while we’re trying to sleep. LOL. And I heard a conversation between a man and a woman, but I had no idea it came from which direction. LOL. Btw, they have no room service. So if you’re hungry in the middle of the night, just go downstairs and order food from 24 hours Waha Kitchen. 🙂

IMG_2759 IMG_2701 IMG_2702 IMG_2636 IMG_2650 IMG_2647 IMG_2651 IMG_2649

Some bathrooms didn’t have a curtain. So yeah, it was quite unique, only separate by glass. But, the shower was comfortable. I found myself taking a long good shower. Alone, of course.

Spicy, fresh, thrilling and bright. A new level of peranakan cuisine has arrived in Jakarta at Waha Kitchen. It’s a brilliant mix of Southeast Asian Cuisine combined with precision and plated by notable Melbourne and Sydney restauranteur of 25-years.

A visit to Waha Kitchen isn’t complete without a signature laksa. A bowl of noodles that swim in fragrant coconut curry broths and are topped with seafood or roast duck, chicken, or vegetables. Plates of fried spiced prawns dipped in chilli and lime mayonnaise are a great introduction to the cuisine. Share small plates of mixed satay skewers topped with peanut sauce, cracking spring rolls with chilli fish sauce, or thick rice paper rolls dinked in hoi-sin peanut sauce. Larger dishes showcase the quality of local ingridients. Lemongrass and tamarind enliven a steamed whole fish, and red yoghurt curry lifts a lamb vindaloo to great heights.

We had our breakfast here. What a nice place to eat. The selections of food wasn’t that much but they were all delicious. I couldn’t stop eating the fried chicken. It was very good!!! Btw, I didn’t like their Egg Benedict. A little bit tasteless. But the breakfast buffet, amazing! Like I said before it’s not much, but delicious enough to make me come back to the buffet table again and again and again.

127 CAFE

127 cafe seems like a world away from the bustle of Jakarta with the gurgling of flowing water and stillness of towering green bamboo. Recline in original and classic designer couches and enjoy the early morning’s caffeine fix and foodie treats.

A long list of fresh fruit and vegetables juices deliver tastes of Indonesia that dance in the mouth. For a fun afternoon break, try 127 cafe’s version of high tea. Assorted and ever-changing bit-sized sandwiches and traditional sweets with contemporary flair are a great match with coffee and make for a fun group event.

We were having our breakfast here too. It’s a comfortable place to sit. I love the sofas and the tables. Very artistic. We can order coffee too here. Well, it’s such a nice place to chit chat after long walk or before take a nap.

Breathtaking rooftop bar and surrounded by lush green gardens, delivering sweeping city view, watch day become night, Jakarta skyline, and the citylights start twinkling. Take shape as you relish the warm weather, fantastic Asian Tapas BBQ and flavour some cocktails and buckets beer, its a treat.

Surrounded by lush green gardens, watch the city’s nightlights start twinkling as chefs in the corner kitchen grill and serve soft shelled crab dusted in curry and biscuits crumbs, juicy lamb cutlets, and marinated duck breast. Signature cocktails and mocktails are shaken and stirred with flair behind the bar and delivered to those relaxing on the plush lounges. Watch day become night and Jakarta’s skyline take shape as you relish the warm weather, fantastic food and flavour some cocktails at Awan Lounge. It’s a treat.

Try to go there at night. It was fun. But I couldn’t take pictures. Too dark. So yeah, I came back in the morning and trying to capture the fun LOL.
