Kopineto Coffee at Karet Pedurenan Kuningan Jakarta

April 9th, 2017. I knew about this place from an owner of coffee shop nearby. I planned to go there with friends, but evidently everybody went there already. So, before an event not far from my place, I went there, alone. Kopineto Coffee.

Located on the roadside of Karet Pedurenan near a beauty parlor, Kopineto occupied 3 levels building. The 3rd level is a rooftop. I prefer the 2nd level because it’s cooler. Hahaha.. Well, I got there around 9am, but I had to wait. There’s no barista, even though it’s written open 8am. LOL. So after about half an hour, they came. Yaaaay. Now let me share to you my simple review.

White Coffee 30k

It’s always good to drink great coffee. But when you cannot drink too much coffee, it’s a little bit sad. Unquestionably. And I couldn’t drink coffee as much as I want. *sobbing* Actually this white coffee was a little bit too milky. But, other than that, it’s fine. ūüôā

Pandan Cake 15k

Pandan Cake was a light cake, and I love it. I heard a lot about this pandan cake from other reviews. And I still ordered this one? Yes of course, since pandan cake is a harmless one, for me. And when I want it to be richer in texture, I dip it into my coffee. OMG! It’s really really good. So please order this one, and dip it into the coffee, booyaaaaah! Ok ok, I’m overreacting hahaha. But, it’s true. It’s good. Try it.

Toast Bread 15k

It’s banana chocolated toast bread. I prefer if it’s more crisp. It’s too mushy for a toast bread. LOL. But it tasted nice with good flavour of banana and chocolate together. ūüôā

AB Steak by Chef Akira Back at MD Place Building Setiabudi Jakarta

April 17th, 2017. I was invited to Media and Bloggers luncheon. It was very exciting. A new place. You know about Akira Back, right? Yes. There’s connection between this place and Akira Back. Turn out, this is the latest brainchild by Chef Akira Back. It’s a modern Korean Steakhouse with American style. AB Steak.

Chef Akira Back stays true to his take on cultural merging, mixing flavors and tastes of his Korean origin along with a variety of other cuisines in an exotic fashion. The innovative steakhouse concept has been developed by Chef Back for quite some times and Jakarta has been chosen to be the first city to open AB Steak. The restaurant’s door opens in April 2017 with a commitment to deliver high quality service, comfort, style and memorable experience.

The experience was like in a movie. We came in. It’s dark. A lot of meat in there. People walked around. There’s fire on the wall. Yeah, not really fire, it’s more like live wallpaper. It’s still dark. I know! We’re like coming into a private party of mafia kingpin! LOL. The difference from the movie, in AB Steak, there’s no dancing pole. Hahaha. Yup, trust me. Not even one. *please be serious Yen..* Ok, I’m not lying. It’s like private party. I could feel the elegant and luxury ambiance. There’re paper cranes on the wall. It’s so beautiful. Well, let’s begin the steak-party!

Shitake Croquette 225k

Sea Urchin, Sweet Shrimp Kejang, Smoked Potato Foam, Caviar

My favourite! Can you imagine? Sea Urchin with Caviar on top of croquette.¬†Tasted marvelous. The sweet shrimp kejang was also very delightful. It’s not every day I could eat kejang. The smoked potato foam was in a quite rich creamy texture even though it’s form as a foam. Super recommended!

Gejang or gejeot is a variety of jeotgal, salted fermented seafood in Korean cuisine, which is made by marinating fresh raw crabs either in ganjang or in a sauce based on chili pepper powder.

Amberjack “Carpaccio” 195k

Roasted Jalapeno Salsa, Oranges, Blood Orange Soy

Beautiful presentation. The lovely colour of the raw amberjack fish, blend charmingly with the colour of oranges and roasted jalapeno salsa and blood orange soy. The fresh spicy and tangy flavour of the dish was really strong. I only ate one beautiful slice of amberjack and it’s enough. The flavour burst in my mouth. Ulalaaaa..

Chive & Kimchee Gel, Jicama, Truffle Yuja Soya

Crudo means raw in Spanish. So it means raw scallop. And it was beautiful. It’s glazy and divine in presentation. But the flavour was very strong for my palate. The sour and tangy flavour. If you like sour and tangy flavour, this is for you, then. An eye-opener starter.

Pachyrhizus erosus, commonly known as jicama, Mexican yam bean, or Mexican turnip, is the name of a native Mexican vine, although the name most commonly refers to the plant’s edible tuberous root.

Citrus junos or yuzu (from Japanese „ɶ„āļ) is a citrus fruit and plant in the family Rutaceae. It is called yuja (from Korean žú†žěź) in Korean cuisine context.

Such a delicate bun. And I think it’s very genius to serve bun with tender duck and seared foie gras. And the bun was very delicate. Ok, I said it twice. But it’s true. I just rolled the bun, put those delicious in my mouth. And it’s literally melted. Yes, melted in my mouth. This is one of my favourites too.

Meatballs, Crispy Rice Cake, Kochujang Butter Sauce

Love this one too. Wow, it’s getting better! The black mussels were a rare ones. So, it’s really lucky for me to try this one. It was very delicious. I prefer they made the meatballs larger, of course. But those mini meatballs were scrumptious. Those little.. errrr.. ok now let’s talk about the crispy rice cake. It was pretty amazing. Sometimes they made the tteobokki quite hard to chew. But this one was pretty soft. Don’t ask about the butter sauce. I wanted to put warm rice on top of it. Huft.. I should did that! ūüė¶

At first I ate only the wagyu tartare. Then I combined with the roasted bone marrow. And it was unbelivable. The flavour changed all at once. As you know, bone marrow tastes meaty and buttery. Umami!

Grilled Romaine, Grilled Salmon, Herbed Yogurt Caesar Dressing, Caramel Mac-nuts

I think it’s caesar salad a la AB Steak. The romaine grilled perfectly, mingled impeccably with the well-seasoned salmon. The caramel macadamia enhanced the texture of the salad. Recommended!

After those starters, let’s move to the main course. And they served five dipping sauces: Sesame Oil, Bulgogi, Wasabi, Ssamjang and Chimichurri. My favourite was the sesame oil. ūüôā

OK, from those three desserts, my favourite was the Molten Chocolate Souffl√©. The mochi cake was just ok for me. Maybe because I don’t really like mochi. And the crepe flamb√© was just a sweet crepe with additional of brandy flavour. Those two were delicious, but I love the molten chocolate souffl√© more. The texture of the souffl√© was flawless. Super recommended.

February 19th, 2017. Another new coffee shop opened near my place. I saw it before it opened, but I totally forgot to mention the coffee shop to my friends. When I saw a friend posted it in his IG account, I asked #DFS to visit the place. But too bad, I had to go there only with Leo because everybody was busy. Well, that cold rainy morning, we came to the coffee shop. HiLo Homepage Coffee.

Hi energy + Lo fat Coffee = HiLo. That’s why they chose the name of the coffee shop. Andre and Albert. We met¬†them, men¬†behind HiLo¬†Homepage *I have no idea if there’s another owner hahaha*. They have the experience and expertise in their respective fields. Combined together and HiLo¬†Homepage was born. The place actually located at the lobby of Emerald Residence. They rent the lobby and made it for one hang out place. They told me that it still needed improvement. But they will do it one by one.

It looked dry and not interesting. But when we cut the croissant and put it in our mouth, we agreed to each other. It’s very scrumptious. The croissant was crunchy with appetizing taste. And the salted egg yolk filling was perfect for my taste bud. Not too salty, not too sweet. Just splendid.

Imperial Tables at Setiabudi One Jakarta

February 27th, 2017. End of year 2016, Imperial Cakery closed. My sister and I, we were so sad, because it’s one of our favourite places to buy bread and cakes. But, at the begining of year 2017, I saw a notice that they will open a new concept there. We waited for the date to come, of course. Last week, I walked by the place and it said, will be open on Feb 27th. Last night, I asked them what time they will open, and they said, “8am miss. Please come tomorrow.” And here I am. Imperial Tables.

When I walked in, I was stunned by their ambiance. It’s very different from the previous one. Well, they changed the concept, but they still selling bread and cakes. The ambiance was comfortable and very friendly. Feel like home. I talked to the manager there, and he said, Imperial Cakery in Setiabudi One now rebranding to Imperial Tables. Imperial Tables is one of the Imperial Group brands.

Founded in 2005, the Imperial Group is a leader in conceptualizing, developing and operating one of the best group of restaurants in the region. Cheese Baked Rice with Grilled Chicken 35k

Chicken pieces topped savoury and tasty fried rice, smothered with a special grave and melted cheese and broiled to perfection.

Perfect for my taste bud. The melted cheese mixed with the fried rice and chicken pieces, delivered a heaven in my mouth. Golden colour and bubbly with plenty of cream and extra-sharp melted¬†cheese. Hmmm.. Didn’t mean to¬†exaggerate, but I could say that this was one of the best baked rice I’ve ever tried. Served in hot bowl, smell so good, tasted super duper delightful, it made me feel like¬†on cloud nine. My tummy happy, I was overjoyed. Recommended.

Ristorante da Valentino at MD Place Setiabudi Jakarta

February 6th, 2017. This was my first time. Actually I heard about this place a long long time ago. But I thought it was one fine dining restaurant. I was afraid to come there. I was afraid that they have dress code. Fine dining always made me felt insecure. So, when finally I came to this ristorante, I was relieved as it wasn’t intimidating at all. Ristorante Da Valentino, the much-anticipated Award Winning restaurant, is finally open in Jakarta Indonesia starting January 19, 2015. Originally started by Chef Valentino and his wife Patricia in July 2005, Ristorante Da Valentino was a 45-seater family managed Italian restaurant located in a residential area along Rifle Range Road in Singapore. The restaurant has a relaxing and cozy ambiance with decorations very much like an Italian home, where Chef Valentino’s mother helped served the food while his sister Perla worked in the kitchen, with brother in law Alberto managing the dining area. Now you can finally experience yourself the much talk about dining experience in Ristorante Da Valentino Jakarta.

Located in MD PLACE building, Ristorante Da Valentino instantly made me feel with warmth and luxury ambiance for the moment. They have 4 private rooms with different paintings, and a casual dining with a seating capacity up to 100 people. I felt at home actually because their hospitality with a very attentive people. Actually, when I was there, I saw one person from online food delivery. He was amazed by the place. He took photos there. And he smiled at me and said, “This place is very pretty.” I nodded with pride. Hahahaha.. Proud because I was there with him. LOL! By the way, I will meet Ellyna! Yaaaay!

At first, I wanted to share it with El. But turned out, I wanted it all.  Sorry El. *big grin* They gave a generous amount of seafood. The shell was my favourite. A very memorable dish. It was literally a single bowl topped with seafood and filled with tomato soup. Fresh one!

The homemade squid ink fettuccine was in a perfect al dente texture. Smothered¬†in generous creamy and tangy sauce that¬†balancing the flavour of this pasta. And the crabmeat was dabomb with generous portion. The presentation wasn’t that charming but it was super recommended dish!

The actual size of Tagliata Di Manzo. It was tender and juicy and delightful. It’s actually a simple dish with a¬†great way to serve a seared piece of fillet. The potato ball really enhanced the texture of the wagyu steak.

A fun way to make this one. The Chef cooked the risotto inside the grana padano wheel. Very fun looking at the impassioned Chef. When it came to my plate, it was not pretty at all. A plate of cheese risotto. That’s all. Hahaha. But when I tasted it, it blew my mind. The grana padano cheese enhanced the creamy texture of risotto. Love it.

Grana Padano is a hard, slow-ripened, semi-fat cheese from Italy, comparable to Parmigiano Reggiano or “parmesan” cheese. Grana Padano has had protected designation of origin status since 1996. It is made from milk produced in the Po River valley.

SO IN LOVE! It smelled so good, I was spellbound. This¬†mouth-watering rib eye¬†was worth¬†it¬†and¬†really impressed me. Finger-licking good. Tender, for sure. Juicy, absolutely. I didn’t know about Ellyna,¬†but I just can’t get enough of it. Hahaha.

Tiramisu

Served in a dessert glass, it was definitely one of the best tiramisu. Tiramisu is the most favourite dessert in Italy. Collaboration between mascarpone, lady finger, liquor and coffee. Fantastic. Melt in my mouth. Rich and creamy with light texture.

The People’s Cafe at Setiabudi One Jakarta

November 19th, 2016. One fine day. I walked to Setiabudi One. Yes, I had an event at the day. One of Ismaya’s restaurant. Introducing new menus. I wonder. Hmm.. Since they changed their name *previously known as Ismaya’s Catering*, I never tried their food properly. I asked them, “Can I bring my 2 friends? *they’re available that saturday*” And they said yes. Well, some place sometimes limited us with the “valid only for 1” invitation. But Ismaya is one of the best hosts. They welcome everybody. So, I brought Gaby and Vrila at the day. The People’s Cafe.

The place is very lovely. Since they opened in Setiabudi One, I always wanted to come but I didn’t wanna come in alone. They opened early, like 8am everyday. They have smoking and non-smoking area. At the time, I came early so I could take pictures first. By the way, they have Djournal Coffee stall there inside the place. So you can order some drinks from Djournal at The People’s Cafe.

Turns out, it’s their signature menu. They was surprised that I haven’t tried this hahaha. Well, it’s my first time having lunch there. So of course I never tried their “es sirsak.” It’s really delicious. Fresh, sweet and addictive.

Chunks of deep fried battered chicken coated with salted egg yolk sauce & fragrant curry leaves. Served with rice & a sunny side up egg.

They should call it Bowl of Heaven instead of salted egg chicken hahahaha.. The chicken coated with salted egg yolk sauce was a good idea. Served it with rice and sunny-side-up egg was brilliant! It’s very well-seasoned. Perfect! Most recommended! The salted egg yolk sauce was beyond compare!

Bubur Ayam Kota 35k

Warm rice porridge topped with fried shredded chicken, shallots, peanuts & served with crackers.

My favourite! And fun fact: Vrila never liked porridge, but she said this was DELICIOUS! I was very happy, I told Kikky and Shalita about it. And they were so happy, just like me. Well, it’s not important, of course. I just wanna share the story hahahaha.. Well, the texture of the porridge was perfect. Just perfect for my palate. Tasted so good. Recommended!

Nasi Mawut T.P.C. 38k

White rice mixed with seaweed, topped with green noodles, minced chicken in green chili sauce & a sunny side up egg. Garnished with  sliced chilies, carrots & spring onion.

What an outstanding dish. Rice with noodles with egg. Just imagining the words, make me drooling. Mawut means messy. So, you need to mix the rice and noodles and egg, like a messy dish. I think I will order it next time I go to TPC.

Roti Bakar Komplit 32k

Toasted bread with banana, hazelnut chocolate, coconut, peanut & mozzarella cheese.

Delightful combination. Everything with hazelnut chocolate and mozzarella cheese was definitely delicious. The toasted bread was also delicious with crispy texture. Love it.

Roti Bakar Telor Kornet 35k

Toasted bread with corned beef, egg & cheese.

Super recommended. The creamy corned beef with egg and cheese. It’s really good to eat this in the morning. Sitting in the corner, munching this roti bakar, while finishing my blog on my laptop. Heaven.

The Big Breakfast 55k

2 eggs of your choice (scrambled/omelette/sunny-side-up/boiled egg), salad, beef sausage, chicken ham & sauteed potato.

Love the omelette and beef sausage. Really a big breakfast for me. I didn’t try the chicken ham and sauteed potato. Well, must be back again to order this one. Wait for me!!!

I didn’t try all the food. Sorry. It’s just too much for my tummy. But, I can tell you right now, Bubur Ayam Kota and Salted Egg Chicken will always be my favourite. LOL. Thank you The People’s Cafe for the generous dishes. Will be back real soon!
