Nasi Tim Pasar Pagi Ayauw at Pasar Pagi Asemka Jakarta

July 12th, 2017. I went to Nasi Tim Pasar Pagi Ayauw with my brother. Finally! I fell in love with this Nasi Tim, forever. And it’s been so long ago since I went there. So, when my brother took office leave, I persuaded him to take me to the place. Yaaaaay. Thanks Bro. Really appreciated it.

I think they never had a sign in front of the place, but I knew their exact place. The place wasn’t beautiful. No #OOTD corner. Or marble table. Or gorgeous floor tile. Actually it’s like a big stall in a traditional market. Not a fancy place, at all. No AC. No elegan place like in nowadays restaurants. But they’re surely have the best Nasi Tim ever. For me.

Nasi Tim 32k

Like I said before. They have the best NASI TIM ever. For me. I don’t know about the others. But I loved this Nasi Tim since my first time eating there, until now. I tried so many version of nasi tim. But no one else comes close to this one. It’s chicken meat, not pork. But it’s the best Nasi Tim! Errr forgive my hyperbole words hahaha. Well, I remember the first time my Dad took me here. I was like, “Oh my, dirty place. Hot and no AC.” But when the Nasi Tim arrived at my table, the aroma intoxicated me, and the flavour was overwhelming. Well, I have to stop my review right now. Let me finish my Nasi Tim. *drooling*

Pantjoran Tea House at Glodok Pinangsia Jakarta

April 12th, 2017. I saw about this place from IG account. The area is very familiar. My parents always came to Pancoran to buy medicines, had breakfast with us, bought everything for Chinese tradition etc. So when I found out about this place, I was very happy to be back to my childhood’s area. Pantjoran Tea House.

Located on the sharp corner, in a hustle road of Pancoran Raya, standing majestically with pride, after took over Apotheek Chung Hwa as a part of the revitalization of Jakarta Old City by Jakarta Old Town Revitalization Corp (JOTRC). In front of the place, they serve Patekoan. 8 pots of tea with mugs, served free of charge for those who passing by. It was a traditional habit from Kapitein Gan Djie and his wife in 1663. When I walked into the place, I felt like I was in China. The decorations, the furnitures, even the smell of it. Reminded me of my aunt’s hause in China. 🙂 Miss them so much. Well, without further ado, let me show you around through my simpe review.

JAPANESE TEA

Sencha 30k

With 11 types of affordable premium teas from Chinese, Japanese, English, and Indonesian Tea, we chose Sencha. Actually, Cindy chose it for us. I wanted to drink Chinese Tea, but it’s not available at the time. But Sencha Tea is really good. Greenish golden color, with a refreshing aroma and a good balance between astringency and sweetness. It’s a very good tea.

Sencha is a type of Japanese ryokucha which is prepared by infusing the processed whole tea leaves in hot water. It is the most popular tea in Japan.

SNACK / LIGHT MEAL

Vegetable & Minced Chicken Spring Roll 28k

We’ve already had our big breakfast. So, we chose to order snack or light meal here. A spring roll is a must-order one. Spring roll is always good for snacking. Not too heavy and not too light. And the most important thing, not too oily. Just perfect for us. 4 not-too-hungry people in a tea house. LOL.

Fried Beancurd with Spices 25k

This was Aline’s order. But, who could reject a fried beancurd? Well, not me. Fried beancurd is always an option if you want to eat fritter for snack. Fried beancurd, fried banana, fried tempeh, yeah that kind of fritter, if you know what I mean. But, this fried beancurd was totally different from that fritter. It’s more delicious, more texture, and more spices. Next time I wanna try their other food. I heard that their Prawn with Salted Egg is one the best. *wink wink*

Padang Merdeka at Pinangsia Kota Tua Jakarta

April 12th, 2017. I saw this place everywhere in IG. It made me very curious. Is it that good? And the time has arrived for me to try this one. Actually, my friends and I had another event to go to Bogor, but one circumstance lead to another, and we had to cancel it. But, Aline already took leave, so why don’t we spend it wisely. Padang Merdeka.

Located at the road side of Kota Tua, it’s very easy to find it. I saw in a review from a blogger *I don’t remember the blog* said that the Padang Merdeka was a little bit hidden. Well, it’s not hidden at all. The logo is very huge in their facade. Literally huge. So, it’s not hidden at all hahaha. If you know BNI Kota, it’s on the opposite road. You can park your car in BNI, and walking across the road to reach Padang Merdeka. Or you can park at the back of Padang Merdeka. It’s quite big for a parking lot. Ok, let’s talk about the place inside. You will find beautiful murals about Indonesia. There’re Indonesian heroes, Toraja batik patterns, and map of Indonesia on their ceiling. *Pssst.. I forgot to take photo of the map. But you can see it when you are there.* It really takes a padang restaurant to another level.

They served the food just like typical Padang restaurant. Several menus displayed on the table. And we just took what we want. They have Ayam Pop, Perkedel, Dendeng Batokok, Kikil Gulai, Ayam Goreng, Gulai Otak, Paru, Beef Rendang, etc. And my favourite were Ayam Pop, Perkedel and Tunjang. Their Ayam Pop 19.5k was very tasty with rich flavour and amazing texture. Tender and well-seasoned. Their Perkedel 12k was one of the best perkedel I guess. Bold texture with delicious taste. Kikil Gulai 21k was definitely a must menu that you have to try at Padang Merdeka. It’s tender and superb. With that price, you will get a big one. And.. I totally forgot to try their Beef Rendang. OMG! Actually, my hubby is a rendang’s lover. So, well I guess I should be back to Padang Merdeka, asked him to join me. Soon, definitely.
