Greyhound Café Indonesia at Grand Indonesia West Mall Thamrin Jakarta

September 12th, 2017. Finally Greyhound Café open for public. So before everybody come to the place, I have to be there first. LOL. Well, actually I had to be at Kelapa Gading area this morning with Tasya *waving to the beautiful gal* but the night before I had some breakdown because I drank coffee before lunch, and I spent my afternoon with not-being-well condition. My hubby then forbid me to go to Kelapa Gading since it’s too far from my home. When I woke up yesterday morning, I felt so much better. Tasya texted me and asked me if I want to join her today to Greyhound’s private lunch. Well, why not?

Not your expected “THAI”, our restaurant is a real “Bangkok” café. With food and mood the way Bangkokians love it today. Like the city where it was born, our restaurant offers a mixture of taste in culture and art. From traditional to modern, from street to high style, from local to international. All mixed together in a beautiful chaotic way.

I just found out that they’re under Arena group. Yaaaay. I was very sure that the food must be good! When I came inside the cafe, I was stunned by their interior. It’s very spacious with murals everywhere. Yes, it’s very spacious. They divided into 3 areas. The first area was the coffee and cakes bar with comfortable seats. Then getting inside, you will find a large dining area. And there’s a semi private room for 12 pax, I guess. What a lovely place to eat, chit chat, me time, and everything else.

Thai Tea Granita 52k

One of the best Thai Tea I’ve ever tried. Well, I only tried a small amount of Thai Tea since it’s never my favourite drink. They put granita in the thai tea. It’s sweet and flavourful. Usually Thai Tea gave me some weird taste, but this one was very different. OMG! I’m craving for this thai tea granita!!

Granita is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily, it is available all over Italy in somewhat different forms.

Salmon Carpaccio in Spicy Hot Sauce 88k

Sliced fresh salmon swims in special Thai spicy sauce.

When I read this menu, I was afraid that it will be super sour and super spicy. Carpaccio wasn’t really my thing, actually. But Greyhound did a very good job with this salmon carpaccio. It’s not too spicy. And it’s really a great combination between sour and spicy, with a hint of sweet flavour. Maybe it’s from the fresh salmon. Definitely one of the finest salmon carpaccio I’ve ever tried. No b*llsh*t!

Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings 65k

Deep fried marinated mini chicken wings in fish sauce. A family recipe, legend has it, someone dropped an entire batch on the beach but decided to brush the sand off and continued nibbling.

Couldn’t stop munching this fried chicken wings. Well, simple presentation with uncomplicated appearance. A mini size chicken wings. It’s indeed a small portion with a bombastic taste. Well-seasoned. Crispy and crunchy with no oily texture. Topnotch!

Phad Thai with Fresh Prawns 95k

Fried Thai rice noodle with tamarind sauce and fresh prawns served with crushed peanuts and chili powder.

Served in separated presentation. We had to mix it with passion LOL. A different kind of pad thai that I used to eat *I didn’t eat many pad thai actually LOL*, this one had a really strong taste of sweet. And I loved it! The bean sprouts were fresh-crunchy. Deliciously brilliant with the crushed peanuts. Enhanced the tamarind flavour of the phad thai. Super recommended!

Phad thai is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served as a street food and at casual local eateries in Thailand.

Thai Braised Beef Noodle Soup with Beef Balls 85k

Rice noodle in very tender braised beef soup and beef balls, served with chili sauce.

More broth please! Outstanding flavour with addicting beef balls. Well the texture of the rice noodle was too al-dente for me. I prefer they make the rice noodle fluffier next time. The braised beef was a little bit dry in texture. But other than that, it’s almost perfect.

Chocolate Banana Crepe Cake 62k

Light and thin crepes, layered with banana, custard and fresh cream, topped with chocolate sauce.

Need more banana flavour inside the layers of custard and fresh cream. The texture was also too hard to cut. But I loved the chocolate sauce. Not too sweet. Just the right amount of flavour.

Fresh Coconut Crepe Cake 72k

Light and thin crepes, layered with fresh cream and fresh coconut meat.

DABEST! It’s light, it’s thin, it’s silky, it’s fluffy. It’s everything I wished in this dessert since the first time I laid my eyes on it. Coconut was never my favourite, but this coconut crepe cake will be my first favourite coconut dessert. I recommended this one for you guys. If you don’t like coconut, it’s fine, but I suggest you to try this one first. And tell me about it.
