March 5th, 2017. I’m always happy to be back to a place that serve delicious food. So when one of my favourite restaurant asked me to try their latest promotion, I was overjoyed. I arranged the date, and asked my #DFS team to come with me, alongside with Aline and Cindy as our guest-stars hahaha.. Finally coming back to this place. Pearl Chinese Restaurant.

Located on the second floor of the five star luxury JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Pearl Chinese Restaurant is a true jewel in fine Cantonese dining and ready to bring the best of Cantonese Dim Sum to the heart of Jakarta. Preserving the long-lived Chinese tradition, Executive Chinese Chef Ken Choy and his creative culinary team are ready to bring up 40 menu selections every Sunday from 10:30am to 02:30pm, with priced at 488k++ per person (including free flow of Chinese Tea). This culinary offering is presented to cater families’ tradition to go to yum cha on holidays.

I love dimsum, and it’s really good to have a full course dim sum experience where made to order to boost the guest’s culinary experience. They served welcome drink to us, first. Then they served a lot of dim sum in front of us. Wow, right? And we started taking photos before we ate.

Chinese cooking is one of the ancient and most diverse in the world. Among 23 provinces within China, Guandong (or Canton) has the most well-known for its wide variety and cooking style. Yum Cha or Dim Sum is the most popular and well-known form of Cantonese cuisine. In Chinese, Dim Sum literally means “a light touch on the heart” which describe a happy and boisterous occasion when family and friends gather up to sip tea and eat a great variety of dishes. The unique culinary tradition began in ancient Silk Road where travelers often need a place to rest and drink tea (in Chinese “yum cha” means the act of drinking tea) before continuing their journey. The great number of travelers passing through, teahouses opened up along the roadside of Southern China. Until it was later discover that tea aid digestion, teahouses owner began offering bite-size snacks as an accompaniment and thus the tradition was born.

SUNDAYS ARE DIMSUMLICIOUS MENU

STEAMED DIM SUM: Siew Mai, Ha gao, Cha siu bao (chicken), Scallop dumpling, Xiao long bao (chicken), Glutinous rice in lotus leaf, Vegetable dumpling, Chicken feet.
DEEP FRIED DIM SUM: Seared lamb bun, Baked XO turnip cake, Seafood yam dumpling, Bean curds roll, Vegetables srping roll, Egg tart, Seafood wonton, Sesame ball with lotus paste
STARTER: Caramelized honey salmon, Crispy duck, Roasted pork belly, Peking duck, Crispy soft shell crab
SOUP: Spinach mushroom soup, Sweet corn chicken soup, Roasted pumpkin crab meat soup, Asparagus seafood soup
MAIN COURSE: Roasted farm chicken, Seafood laksa king, Beef noodles, Penang king prawn noodles, Cha kway teow, XO seafood fried rice, Seafood or chicken congee, Our Home made spinach bean curd
SEASONAL VEGETABLES OF THE DAY: Choice of preparations: Garlic fried, oyster sauce, assorted egg with soup and XO sauce
DESSERT: Lemon grass jelly, Mango Pudding, Seasonal fruit platter

All delicious. Couldn’t pick one for the favourite because I love them all. Always my favourite dim sum restaurant.
