Attarine Jakarta – Gunawarman Senopati Jakarta

October 13th, 2016. I went to Gunawarman to an exclusive menu preview of a casual all-day neighbourhood restaurant serving modern and refined cuisine inspired by the flavours of the Spice Route. Attarine Jakarta.

The Potato Head Group is proud to launch Attarine on 15th October 2016. Attarine brings a world of spice to Jakarta with well-crafted, sophisticated dishes made with vibrant spices and seasonings from across the globe. Taking inspiration from the Spice Route and its lasting influence on the history of food, Attarine celebrates flavours that are comfortable and familiar, yet lively and exciting.

Launching today (October 15th, 2016) for dinner only, Attarine amazed me with their decoration. There’s classic car in the middle of the restaurant. Open kitchen with wood fire oven. Wooden furnitures, high ceiling, dim lighting and warm ambiance. But the cute thing was the flip-flops pretending to be cactus in front of the classic car. I forgot to take picture of it, but you can find it easily as soon as you enter the room. By the way, they will open for lunch and dinner on October 24th, 2016.

Attarine’s menu is under the direction of Chef Jacob Burrell, who draws on his experience and love of working with local suppliers and seasonal ingredients to create original and authentic cuisine. At the centre of the restaurant is a wood-fire oven, which will turn out perfectly grilled meats, roasted vegetables and fresh bread throughout the day. Attarine’s changing daily specials and menus will depend on the best available and seasonal ingredients, which will continue to provide exciting offerings at this neighbourhood restaurant.

ATTARINE MOCTAILS

Inspired by the legendary spice trade route from Asia to Europe 1500s to 1700s

Grilled Lemonade

Grilled lemon juice, palm sugar + soda

My favourite! Refreshing with lemon and soda. A real thirst-quencher. It’s sweet with a hint of lemon and fresh of soda. Definitely what I need for hot days.

Roseberry Fizz

Raspberry, rose water, lemon juice, sugar syrup, fluffy egg white + soda

IMG_8342

Jamu Royal 50k

Turmeric, tamarind, honey, lemon juice, carrot + ginger beer

STARTERS + SMALL BITES

Marinated Olives 35k – A Selection of Pickles 25k (from our larder) – Soft-boiled Egg

IMG_8329 IMG_8334

Wood Fired Flat Bread 75k

green lentil puree with za’atar

You have to eat it right away after they serve it. But, still good even though it’s cool already. It’s homemade. The texture of the bread was perfectly flaky. It served with green lentil puree with za’atar, but in this photo, they served it with roasted eggplant with toast garlic. I prefer the roasted eggplant, though.

Stuffed Onions 115k

filled with minced beef + rice, braised in a savoury broth

What a unique dish. It’s like my mom’s creation with bitter gourd and pork. Miss my mom!!! *sob* It’s surprisingly delicious. It’s a little bit spicy with salty flavour. I need more rice, please. LOL.

Cast-Iron Skilled Shrimp 135k

with chilli, tamarind + coriander (focaccia on the side)

Fresh shrimps with savoury taste. The crunchy texture of the shrimps were unbeatable. While Hans and Marius only ate a little portion of it, I finished it with happy face. I always love shrimp no matter what.

VEGETABLES + GRAINS

Golden Cauliflower 45k

turmeric, lemon + cashew butter

Not my favourite vegetable but the cashew butter was superb. It’s spicy yet creamy. What a great combination for this kind of dish. Cauliflower was never as much fun as this.

MAINS

Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder Chops 400k

with zucchini and rice pilaf

The lamb shoulder was tender and not smelly at all. Cooked with saffron braised onions and garlic and topped with walnuts, olives and pomegranate. They use pomegranate to make it prettier, I suspect. LOL.

Wood Fired Whole White Snapper 325k

with zucchini and tomatoes

Favourite! Today’s fresh catch roasted in wood-fire oven, seasoned simply with sea salt, long pepper and bay leaves. The fish was soft and fluffy and salty. Splash it with lemon. And it’s ready to be enjoyed. Recommended dish. I guess, it will be everybody’s favourite.
