All-New Immigrant Dining Room Plaza Indonesia Thamrin Jakarta

April 21st, 2014. An all-new Immigrant Dining Room finally open. Actually, I have never gone to the old Immigrant, so I couldn’t compare. But, this new rebrand dining room is very comfortable. You can enjoy your lunch and dinner in a warm ambiance. Located near the heart of the city, Immigrant aims to become a cozy place for people to have lunch or dinner or even a friendly drinks at the bar. That’s why they reorganized the place, separated the dining room and the club. The club is located next to the dining room, with different entrance.

Actually, I won’t post so many of the ambiance here, because I thought it will be a surprise for you to find out about this place. You just need to go there to satisfy your curiosity 🙂 So I just give you teaser, okay? Immigrant Dining Room has a capacity for 150 guests. Immigrant divided into 2 separate rooms. Smoking room and non smoking room. And they also have a restroom. How convenient, right?

Flowers are all over the place. It’s a simple flower, but it will make you smile while you eat your delicious food. Immigrant have a very adorable decorations with lots of flowers. The lighting is also natural with lots of windows. And the most important thing: their services were out of the question. I felt like a queen there. Extraordinary!!

Immigrant’s collection of wines are quite perfect. Shaken, stirred and swigged – wine, beer, and a serious martini list. Life will never be the same.

APPETIZER

CAESAR SALAD (Chicken) 75k

Romaine lettuce, anchovy, crispy beef bacon, poached egg, parmesan & croutons.

I was shocked when I saw this salad. What a gigantic chicken!! Hihihi.. But that’s true. The chicken was so enormous, I had to give up for sure, if I should eat this salad alone. The romaine lettuce was very crunchy with a little bit bitter flavour. The taste of the dressing was sharp, with a flavour of anchovy. The beef bacon was as crispy as crackers. How about the poached egg? It tasted like a fallen piece of cloud. And the croutons had that beautiful toasted bread flavour which impart little explosions of crunch and flavour to this caesar salad. Overall, this caesar salad was superb!

SOUP OF THE DAY: FOREST MUSHROOMS 45K

Portobello, porcini, button, black truffle mushrooms with parmesan & thyme foam.

Just like the name – Forest Mushrooms – the taste of this soup was creamy, rich and full of earthy flavour. You could taste the strong flavour of the mushrooms, it was like you ate the mushrooms themselves, not in the texture as soup. The nutty flavour from percini also added a particular taste. Above all, I found this soup was heavenly appetizing.

Portobello mushroom known as a mature Agaricus bosporus (Button mushroom known as an immature Agaricus bosporus), which is an edible basidiomycete mushroom native to grasslands in Europe and North America. It also known as champignon de Paris. The flavour of Portobello is beefy, very rich strong flavour.

Porcini mushroom known as penny bun is an edible mushroom. The flavour has been described as nutty and slightly meaty, with a smooth, creamy texture, and a distinctive aroma reminiscent of sourdough.

The black truffle or black Périgord truffle (Tuber melanosporum), the second-most commercially valuable species, is named after the Périgord region in France and grows with oak and hazelnut trees. Black truffles are harvested in late autumn and winter. The flavor of black truffles is far less pungent and more refined than that of white truffles. Its strong flavor is often described as syrupy sweet. Black truffles also are used for producing truffle salt and truffle honey.

MAIN COURSE

TEA-SMOKED SALMON OMELETE 90k

Garlic sautéed mushrooms, roasted baby tomatoes & lemon fraiche.

First, I thought the bottom of this tea-smoked salmon was a baguette. But, surprisingly it was omelette. The texture of the omelette was not too fluffy, but also not too dense. Just perfect. Once you bite it, get ready for a taste of heaven, because the tea-smoked salmon was scrumdiddlyumptious. The earthy garlic sautéed mushrooms goes wonderfully with the salmon and the lemon fraiche. Crème fraîche is a soured cream containing 30–45% butterfat.

CONCHIGLIONI PASTA 80k

Italian pig-ear shape pasta stuffed with ricotta cheese, spinach, parmesan & grated nutmeg.

Even though they said it was like pig-ear shape pasta, first thing in my mind was “My goodness, escargot!!” Unfortunately, it’s not escargot *sigh* I love the texture of this pasta. So delicate. I could taste the creamy flavour from ricotta cheese and the spinach went pleasantly with grated nutmeg. This dish was definitely family favourite.

Ricotta is an Italian whey cheese made from sheep (or cow, goat, or Italian water buffalo) milk whey left over from the production of cheese. Ricotta curds are creamy white in appearance, slightly sweet in taste.

DESSERT

BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING 65k

Figs, black currant & orange bread pudding served with spiced Bailey’s ice cream.

One bite, and I’m in love. The combination flavours of figs, black currant and orange, made this bread and butter pudding splendid. The sweetness and honeyed taste from figs, mix with musky flavour from black currant and sweet-sour citric taste from the orange. I could say, the best bread and butter pudding so far. Don’t forget to eat this dessert with spiced Bailey’s ice cream. Spectacular.

Bread and butter pudding is a traditional dessert popular in British cuisine. It is made by layering slices of buttered bread scattered with raisins in an oven dish into which an egg and milk (or cream) mixture, commonly seasoned with nutmeg (and sometimes vanilla or other spices), is poured.

VALRHONA DARK CHOCOLATE FONDANT 65k

Served with vanilla bean ice cream.

I cut the cake first to see the chocolate melted out of the cake. Take pictures!! Hihihi.. Yeah, it was an enthralling moment. All of a sudden, there was a luscious aroma from the chocolate melt. And it was really appetizing. I couldn’t control my mind. In a flash, I replaced my canon camera with my spoon hahaha.. The texture of the cake was delicate, just like a falling-in-love heart. Tasted as sweet as a kiss. Vanilla bean ice cream added an adorable flavour. It feels luxurious in my mouth. No doubt. This is one of the best chocolate melts I’ve ever tried.

Valrhona is a French luxury chocolate manufacturer based in the small town of Tain-l’Hermitage in Hermitage, a wine-growing district near Lyon. Valrhona’s products are generally used in high-end restaurants.

THE SIGNATURES 98k

GTO

gin, triple sec, orange, grape, lemon, lime & grape fruit.

Some people said that gin taste like christmas tree. I have no idea, it is bad or good. But, christmas tree? I love everything about Christmas hahaha.. Almost everybody said gin doesn’t taste good. But added triple sec, orange, grape, lemon, lime and grape fruit, it was awesome. A little bit sour-bitter, but overall it’s a refreshing cocktail because you could taste a lot of orange, lemon and lime.

ROSE MARTINI

gin, rose, grapefruit, lychee.

The lovely appearance of this rose martini really drew my attention. First sip, and I knew this Rose Martini will always be my favorite cocktail. The flavour was sweet and aromatic. The lychee made this cocktail more fragrant. The grapefruit added the sweet, sour and mildly bitter taste. And you know what’s the taste of rose? They taste beautiful.

CLASSIC COCKTAIL 98k

BEE’S KNEES

gin, honey & lemon

When I read the ingredients, I knew exactly what I will get. A refreshing cocktail. The earthy flavour of gin, combined with sweetness from honey and sourness from lemon. The aftertaste was devastating. You cannot get enough with 1 glass. “Bartender, another round please!”

MAD MANGO

Immigrant also provided a mocktail for those who doesn’t like to drink cocktail *errr.. is there anyone who doesn’t like cocktail???* hahaha.. Mad Mango is one of the best mango mocktails I’ve ever tried. One of the server at Immigrant told me to stir it first, because the soda water must mix perfectly with the mango. And after I stirred and tried the mad mango, I was astonished. It was a perfect mocktail for our hot weather. A really thirst-quenching mocktail. Hooray for those who invented this mocktail. 😀

And now, it’s time for me to leave Immigrant. A place where cuisine, service and atmosphere was unbeatable. So sad. I wanna stay forever there. Ok, next time, I should ask my partner-in-crime to join me for a happy hour. Yes, they have happy hour, from 16:00 to 22:00 everyday!! Amazing, right? Come, join us!
